Mauna Kea Technologies: Advances in the diagnosis of digestive cancers

Mauna Kea Technologies announces the results of a meta-analysis, conducted by the NECA of South Korea, highlighting the effectiveness of Cellvizio in the diagnosis of upper gastrointestinal cancers. This study, the largest to date, encompasses 33 research projects and 2,350 patients, and underscores the growing interest in miniprobe confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE).

The results show a marked improvement in the early detection rate of dysplasia in Barrett's esophagus, with the detection rate nearly tripling. This is accompanied by a significant reduction in the number of biopsies required. The rigorous methodology of the study, based on Cochrane and PRISMA guidelines, confirms the reliability of pCLE as a complement to traditional endoscopy.

In South Korea, the technology has already received a favorable evaluation and is eligible for reimbursement for the studied indications. In the United States, Cellvizio is integrated into CPT codes, strengthening its position in the medical market.
