Medios AG Optimizes Operations by Closing Aschaffenburg Facility
Medios AG has announced the closure of its Aschaffenburg facility, a key site accounting for about 10% of its production in Germany. The decision is part of the company's strategy to optimize its manufacturing network and enhance efficiency amidst sustained margin pressures. Medios aims to consolidate production at other locations within Germany, ensuring continued supply to pharmacies and hospitals.
The closure impacts 32 employees, for whom fair compensation is being sought. Medios operates a total of six GMP-certified facilities across the country. The Aschaffenburg site had suffered from below-average profitability due to declining capacity utilization, making its economic operation unsustainable. Structural renovation needs have further accelerated this decision.
The closure aligns with Medios’ Operational Excellence Program, which targets sustainable profitability enhancement. CEO Thomas Meier emphasized the company's focus on maintaining reliable customer supply and developing its regional strategy, with strong support from other sites like Mannheim and Stuttgart.
