Metallic Minerals' La Plata Project Gains U.S. DOE Support for AI Research
Metallic Minerals Corp. announced its La Plata project’s selection in the U.S. Department of Energy's Genesis Mission for the AGAPEX initiative. This AI research aims to enhance mineral exploration techniques. The collaborative effort, led by Colorado School of Mines, targets development of advanced AI technologies to optimize exploration.
La Plata was chosen as a test site due to its district-scale alkalic polymetallic mineral system and extensive datasets. The project involves multiple stakeholders including Metallic Minerals and aims to reduce exploration uncertainties and optimize capital allocation through AI tools.
AGAPEX will conduct initial testing across two geological systems: Arizona's Copper Triangle and La Plata. The initiative aligns with U.S. priorities on domestic mineral supply chains and aims to develop efficient, AI-driven exploration methods.
