Buderus Edelstahl to Sell Two Business Units to GMH Gruppe
Buderus Edelstahl, part of Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, has agreed to sell its hot rolling mill and mechanical processing, including heat treatment units, to GMH Gruppe. The transaction, set to complete in Q4 2025, aligns with Buderus's future transformation plans.
Mutares acquired Buderus from voestalpine AG in February 2025. Buderus, known for high-quality special steels, has a global customer base and reported EUR 360 million in annual revenue.
The sale aims to strengthen GMH Gruppe's special steels portfolio. This move secures 670 jobs at Buderus's Wetzlar site. Despite challenging market conditions, the drop forging division will also be sold to FerrAl United Group, with the remaining division ceasing operations by late 2025.
