Neoen Commences Goyder North Wind Farm Construction in South Australia
Neoen has initiated the construction of Goyder North Wind Farm Stage 1, a 346 MW project situated in South Australia's Mid North region. The project, located on the Ngadjuri Nation lands near Burra, will integrate into ElectraNet’s Bundey Substation. With 48 Vestas turbines, the wind farm is set to produce 1.3 TWh of renewable energy annually by 2029, accounting for a 10% increase in South Australia's wind generation.
Supported by a 100 MW baseload agreement with BHP, the wind farm will supply energy for BHP's South Australian mines. The agreement combines wind farm output with storage from Goyder Battery. During construction, Goyder North Stage 1 will create roughly 500 jobs, transitioning to 10 permanent roles once operational.
Goyder North Wind Farm complements Neoen's Goyder Renewables Zone, expanding its renewable capabilities to 1.2 GW. Together with Goyder South, these initiatives are expected to power over 500,000 homes, meeting a fifth of the state’s electricity needs. Additionally, the project pledges to protect 1,300 hectares in collaboration with the Ngadjuri Nation.
