Neoen Unveils Ako Battery Project in Japan During Presidential Visit
Neoen, a prominent player in renewable energy, has announced its Ako Battery project in Japan. The large-scale battery, with a capacity of 100 MW/400 MWh, will be situated in the Kansai region, specifically the Hyogo Prefecture. It is slated to support the Japanese electric grid by 2028, promoting stability and resilience.
This announcement coincided with French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to the French Japanese Business Forum in Tokyo. The project is a collaboration involving Neoen, Equans, and Toho, with a grid connection agreement secured with Kansai Electric Power Company.
Neoen, active in 15 countries, aspires to be a key contributor to Japan's energy sector. The company, known for the Hornsdale Power Reserve in Australia, operates a global battery storage capacity of 2.8 GW/8.1 GWh.
