Newronika Begins ADVENT Study with First αDBS Implantation

Newronika S.p.A. has announced the successful implantation of the first participant in their pivotal ADVENT study. The procedure took place on September 21 at Fondazione IRCCS San Gerardo dei Tintori, Monza. This study aims to compare adaptive deep brain stimulation (αDBS®) with conventional methods in treating Parkinson's disease.

The ADVENT study will involve 104 participants diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's and eligible for bilateral deep brain stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus. The study features a crossover design, where participants experience both stimulation modes in a randomized sequence. Clinical evaluation remains blinded to maintain objectivity.

This milestone strengthens Newronika's presence in neuromodulation technology. It marks progress towards potential U.S. Premarket Approval. Enrollment is open in Italy and is set to expand to the U.S. soon.
