Nordex Group Ventures into New Zealand with a 192 MW Wind Project
The Nordex Group is making its debut in New Zealand's wind energy market with a significant order from Mercury, a leading electricity company in the country. The order includes 40 N133/4.8 wind turbines, totaling 192 MW, set for a wind farm in Otago's eastern foothills. This move reinforces Nordex's expansion into markets with ample wind resources.
Installation of the initial turbine on a 90-metre tower will begin in early 2028, with the first unit operational by mid-2028. This partnership aligns with Mercury's track record of managing major renewable energy projects efficiently.
Nordex plans to engage local partners for crane services and installation, blending international expertise with regional knowledge. This project not only underscores Nordex's market penetration strategy but also Mercury's commitment to renewable growth.
