Nordex Group Secures 35 MW Wind Farm Order in Germany
On April 1, 2026, Nordex Group announced a new order from STAWAG Energie GmbH for the supply of five N163/6.X wind turbines, set for installation in the Sauerland region of Germany. These turbines, designed with a hub height of 164 meters, are destined for the 35 MW Frettertal wind farm in Finnentrop, located in the Olpe district.
The Nordex Group plans to begin the installation in summer 2027 with commissioning slated for early 2028. The unique topography of the site, featuring deep valleys and ridges, makes it ideal for the tall turbines, which aim to enhance wind stability and maximize full-load hours.
Felipe Villalon Waldburg-Zeil from Nordex highlighted the significance of this project in strengthening a region with modest wind energy expansion. The project also includes a 20-year Premium Service agreement. Overall, this order underscores the potential of modern turbine technology in areas with constrained wind capacity.
