Nordic Semiconductor Unveils New Energy-Efficient nRF71 Series
Nordic Semiconductor has launched the nRF71 Series of ultra-low-power Systems-On-Chip (SoCs), combining Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, Thread, and edge AI on a single chip. This innovation promises to significantly reduce standby power consumption, lowering it by up to 20 times compared to current nRF70 Series products. The enhancement is poised to benefit battery-powered devices in smart home, wearables, and industrial IoT applications.
The nRF71 Series enables AI inference to be executed directly on the chip, removing the need for an external AI processor. Devices will thus consume less power and contain fewer components, enhancing efficiency. The integrated Axon Neural Processing Unit boosts processing speed for machine learning models.
This series features the nRF7120 and the nRF7120E chips, both equipped with dual and tri-band Wi-Fi capabilities and significant on-chip memory for efficient application handling.
