Paulo Fonseca Appointed Olympique Lyonnais Coach
Olympique Lyonnais has announced the appointment of Paulo Fonseca as the new head coach of its men's professional team, with a contract extending until June 2027. This decision, supported by John Textor and the sporting management team, aims to reignite the club's ambitions in both domestic and European competitions.
Fonseca, aged 51, brings a wealth of experience with notable achievements including the Portuguese Supercup with FC Porto and the Ukrainian league titles with Chakhtar Donetsk. His tenure at Lille was marked by an exciting style of play, recognized as one of the most attractive in Ligue 1.
Fonseca will be joined by a skilled coaching staff to guide Lyon to Champions League qualification. His first match will be against Marseille in the Ligue 1 McDonald's on Sunday.
