Oritain Unveils 2026 Global Supply Chain Intelligence Report

Oritain, a leader in forensic origin verification, has released its 2026 Global Supply Chain Intelligence Report, highlighting critical challenges for the industry. The report notes that regulatory and consumer scrutiny are growing, undermining traditional supply chain methods.

The data reveals a significant "Verification Gap," especially concerning cotton. The analysis of 1,000 garments annually for five years indicates a resurgence in prohibited cotton use to pre-2021 levels. Oritain found 90% of the brands analyzed in 2025 had at least one instance of prohibited cotton, up from 64% in 2024.

Consumer trust issues are prevalent. Sixty percent avoid products from dubious origins, and only 3% trust marketing claims. Furthermore, 69% of consumers favor mandatory ethical sourcing for leather. The report suggests a shift to forensic verification to mitigate these challenges.
