PFISTERER Invests in High-Voltage Laboratory to Enter HVDC Market

PFISTERER Holding SE has secured a building permit for a new high-voltage laboratory at its Winterbach headquarters. This €30 million investment marks a strategic entry into the growing high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission market. The facility is part of PFISTERER's plan to strengthen its position as a leader in modern power grids and is scheduled to become operational in early 2027.

The new laboratory will facilitate both type and routine testing of HVDC cable accessories, integrating these tests into the company's development processes. This development aims to enable collaborative efforts with international cable manufacturers to qualify complete HVDC systems. Products for 150 kV and 320 kV are expected to reach market readiness by late 2026.

PFISTERER is leveraging its expertise in silicone and EPDM insulation to strengthen its offerings. The company recognizes HVDC technology as crucial for future energy infrastructure, supporting efficient, low-loss long-distance transmission. With the upcoming laboratory, PFISTERER aims to drive this strategic transformation in energy networks.
