Polaris Projects in Mexico Selected for Development Program

Polaris Renewable Energy Inc. announced the selection of its three projects in Mexico under the CFE Mixed Development Program. The projects contribute approximately 250 MW of solar energy capacity and over 180 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This selection comes after a national competitive process launched in February 2026, leading to a final award of around 8,000 MW, surpassing the initial target.

The projects will now move to the contract negotiation phase, with final agreements expected by July 2026. This marks a significant milestone for Polaris, aligning with its strategy to expand in Mexico, a promising market due to rising electricity demand and industrial activity.

The Mixed Development Program aims to facilitate strategic partnerships between the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and private developers for the expansion of Mexico’s electricity infrastructure. The initiative is part of Mexico's broader strategy to meet growing energy requirements through renewable sources, with a planned procurement of 6,500 MW by 2029.
