Porsche Appoints Tobias Sühlmann as New Head of Design

Porsche has announced the appointment of Tobias Sühlmann as its new Head of Design, effective February 1, 2026. Sühlmann, 46, takes over from Michael Mauer, who has been at the helm of Porsche's design for over twenty years. Coming from McLaren, where he was Chief Design Officer since 2023, Sühlmann marks a generational change for Porsche.

Michael Mauer significantly influenced Porsche's design language, ensuring the iconic 911 model stayed relevant while extending the brand's design DNA to newer models like the Panamera. Mauer's tenure began in 2004, and he played a vital role in integrating Porsche's design into the electric vehicle era.

Sühlmann's extensive experience in sports car design, with previous roles at Volkswagen, Bugatti, Aston Martin, and Bentley, positions him well for refining Porsche's design ethos. Mauer will support Sühlmann during the transition period.
