Porsche Introduces Wireless Charging for Electric Vehicles

Porsche AG is set to revolutionize electric vehicle charging with its inductive wireless system. Debuting with the new Cayenne Electric, this 11 kW system eliminates the need for cables, requiring only a floor plate for charging. Positioned as a leader, Porsche's system boasts up to 90% efficiency and simplifies home charging, where most electric car refueling occurs.

The Cayenne Electric will launch by the end of 2025, followed by the commercial availability of the floor plate in 2026. Featured at the IAA Mobility in Munich, the prototype showcases this cutting-edge technology with vibrant fluorescent paint.

Inductive charging, akin to smartphone technology, involves a magnetic field transferring energy through air. Porsche's system ensures safety with motion detectors and integrates with the My Porsche app, enhancing user experience. Initially launching in Europe, the system will soon expand globally, promising a new dimension in electric vehicle charging.
