Porsche Faces Sales Decline Amidst Product Shortages

Porsche AG announced a 15% decline in global vehicle deliveries in the first quarter of 2026, totaling 60,991 cars, compared to 71,470 during the same period last year. The sales downturn is attributed to several factors, including the end of production for the combustion-engined 718 model, the strong ramp-up phase of the all-electric Macan, and the discontinuation of tax incentives for electric and hybrid vehicles in the US.

Despite the challenges, the iconic 911 model witnessed a 22% surge in demand. In contrast, deliveries of the Macan declined 23% due to changes in product lines and market incentives. The Cayenne, however, led all models with 19,183 deliveries, a slight 4% decrease.

Regionally, North America remained the largest market with 18,344 deliveries. In contrast, China experienced a 21% drop due to ongoing market challenges. Porsche plans to pivot its future strategy towards the all-electric Cayenne, set for a summer market launch.
