Emerging Trends in SAP S/4HANA Migration Amid Automation Hurdles

As the 2027 deadline for SAP S/4HANA migration approaches, a significant shift is observed, according to a survey by Precisely and ASUG. While the migration gains traction, automation challenges persist. By the end of 2025, 64% of companies are expected to be live or transitioning to SAP S/4HANA, up from previous years.

Despite accelerated adoption, key barriers identified include process complexity, customizations, and organizational resistance. These issues, coupled with data quality concerns, complicate the migration. Automation initiatives have slowed, as companies allocate resources toward migration, tackling integration difficulties and defining complex business processes.

Mixed user interfaces add another layer of complexity. Many companies employ diverse UI environments, which hinders full automation adoption. There is a growing shift toward no-code/low-code platforms to enhance automation without straining IT teams.
