Project WAL Secures Hydrogen Transport Capacity on GASCADE Network

On May 22, 2026, Project WAL and GASCADE Gastransport GmbH signed an agreement to reserve capacity on GASCADE's hydrogen core network. This milestone enhances the project's ability to transport green hydrogen from its planned electrolyser at Lubmin. The agreement, part of the IPCEI funding, is seen as crucial for accelerating the hydrogen market in Germany.

Carina Gewehr of GASCADE noted that the reservation meets the demand for hydrogen infrastructure. Falko Budde and Adalbert Graff from WAL highlighted this step as crucial for advancing project development and linking production with potential customers.

The hydrogen network, partially converted from natural gas, includes a north-south axis enabling transport from Lubmin to key industrial regions. This capacity reservation marks a significant development in establishing Lubmin as a central hub in Germany's hydrogen economy.
