Quantinuum and Partners Collaborate to Advance Quantum Computing for Industry

Quantinuum, Rolls-Royce, Riverlane, and the University of Edinburgh's EPCC have signed an agreement to explore quantum computing for industrial applications, particularly in gas turbine design. This collaboration aims to integrate Quantinuum's quantum systems, Rolls-Royce's industrial use cases, Riverlane's expertise in quantum error correction, and EPCC's supercomputing knowledge.

The project focuses on using fault-tolerant quantum computers with supercomputers to tackle complex fluid dynamics simulations. These simulations are critical to turbine design but require extensive computing resources. The initiative is aligned with the UK's quantum strategy, aiming to develop necessary hybrid computing capabilities for future applications.

Partners will test computational blocks on Quantinuum's Helios quantum computer, assessing scalability for future systems. This effort builds on prior collaborations, signaling a new phase in developing algorithms, hardware, and software for industrially relevant quantum computing.
