Samsung Partners with HSB to Offer Smart Home Savings

Samsung Electronics has teamed up with Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB) to launch the Smart Home Savings service. This initiative allows U.S. consumers to lower their home insurance premiums through the integration of Samsung home appliances with the SmartThings app. By opting into the service, homeowners can leverage their appliances' protective features, such as early risk detection, to qualify for insurance discounts.

The collaborative effort began with a pilot in Florida, showing promising results in insurance premium reductions. Following this success, Samsung and HSB are expanding the program into additional U.S. states, Europe, and globally. The initiative aligns with the Home Connectivity Alliance Insurance Interface Specification, promoting a competitive and scalable model for insurers and smart home brands.
