Sanofi invests in a new insulin production unit in Germany
On October 19, 2026, Sanofi launched the construction of an advanced insulin production unit in Frankfurt, Germany. This facility, integrated into Sanofi's BioCampus, aims to strengthen the global supply of insulin. Sanofi's management team, along with regional representatives, attended the ceremony. Belén Garijo, CEO of Sanofi, emphasized the importance of innovation for European competitiveness.
Occupying 36,000 square meters, the facility will incorporate digital technologies and advanced automation. Production at full capacity is expected in 2032. The site will play a key role in Sanofi's global supply network.
Currently, Sanofi provides insulin to 15 million patients in more than 100 countries. The project, supported by public grants, demonstrates Sanofi's commitment to people living with diabetes, whose numbers are expected to reach 800 million by 2050.
