Wayrilz's Approval for the TPI in Japan
The Japanese Ministry of Health has approved Wayrilz, a BTK inhibitor, for the treatment of persistent or chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). This drug, developed by Sanofi, is distinguished by its ability to modulate the immune system, targeting complex underlying causes.
The authorization is based on the phase 3 LUNA 3 study, which demonstrated the efficacy of Wayrilz, characterized by a rapid and sustained platelet response compared to placebo. The results highlight a significant improvement in patients' quality of life.
Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, and headaches. Wayrilz is also being studied for other rare diseases, but is not currently approved for these new indications.
