Sceye and SoftBank Achieve HAPS Connectivity Milestone in Japan

Sceye and SoftBank Corp. have completed their first successful stratospheric connectivity demonstration, moving closer to High-Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS) commercialization. The mission, part of Sceye's Service Test Program, involved a 15,000 km trans-Pacific journey from New Mexico to Japan. Upon arrival, the mission verified the capabilities of Direct-to-Device communications, edge computing, and HAPS-based connectivity with drones.

This collaboration marks a significant progression for Sceye in deploying HAPS as a stratospheric infrastructure, enhancing telecommunications and real-time environmental monitoring. Operating at 16.5 km altitude, the system ensures high-capacity connectivity akin to terrestrial networks while minimizing interference.

HAPS stands as a potential new layer of infrastructure, integrating with existing systems to enhance connectivity, disaster response, and future applications like AI and IoT. With Sceye's first flight to Asia, the vision of stratospheric networks is becoming more tangible.
