Schindler to Modernize Elevators at General Motors Building

Schindler Holding AG has secured the contract to modernize the elevators at the General Motors Building in New York. The project involves upgrading 31 elevators with Schindler PORT technology to enhance traffic management and security. The iconic skyscraper, owned by BXP, stands at 767 Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan and is a prominent structure completed in 1968.

The refurbishment includes a complete overhaul of existing systems, integrating new machinery, controllers, and electronic infrastructure. Schindler's Vikén Martarian highlighted that the collaboration with BXP aims to improve comfort, safety, and efficiency for occupants and visitors, reinforcing the building's status as a prime commercial location.

Schindler PORT, an advanced destination dispatch system, will minimize waiting times and optimize passenger experience, while enhancing security with features like secure floor access.
