SFC Energy AG has acquired key assets from Siqens, enhancing its portfolio with methanol reformer fuel cell technology. This acquisition, amidst Siqens' insolvency proceedings, aims to bridge the gap between SFC's existing direct methanol and hydrogen fuel cell systems, specifically targeting the 1 to 5 kW power range. This strategic move enables SFC to tap into broader market segments such as defense, public security, and telecommunications.

The deal includes acquiring Siqens' technology, patents, and customer base, with a purchase price in the upper six-digit euro range. SFC will retain certain Siqens employees, ensuring continuity in innovation and operations. The new technology is expected to enhance SFC's competitiveness, particularly in applications where hydrogen is less feasible.

CEO Dr. Peter Podesser stated that the reformer technology complements SFC’s existing offerings, promising efficient power solutions for off-grid applications. As the integration proceeds, SFC anticipates significant synergies, improving cost efficiency and expanding its technological leadership.
