SGL Carbon and X-energy Expand Supply Partnership
SGL Carbon and X-energy have reinforced their ongoing collaboration through a significant new contract. SGL Carbon will supply nuclear graphite valued at approximately $90 million to X-energy for their Xe-100 reactors. This order highlights the continuing partnership between the two companies under their existing framework agreement. The medium-grain isotropic graphite, NBG-18, provided by SGL Carbon, is key to the Xe-100 high-temperature gas-cooled reactors.
This marks the second major order from X-energy to SGL Carbon for Small Modular Reactor projects, reinforcing their strong business relationship. Production of the newly ordered graphite components is set to commence by the end of 2026. This partnership extends back to a 10-year agreement announced in January 2026, involving initial projects with Dow, Inc. Additionally, plans are underway to expand production capacities at SGL's sites in France and the U.S.
