SIBIONICS and PharmaSens Unveil Automated Insulin Delivery System at EASD 2026

At the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) 2026, SIBIONICS and PharmaSens have revealed their collaborative progress in automated insulin delivery. Their presentation, "See More, Act Earlier," detailed innovations in continuous glucose, ketone, and combined monitoring, aiming to enhance diabetes care.

The companies introduced the SMART02 feasibility study on the "niia signature," a joint device fusing continuous glucose monitoring, insulin delivery, and an automated control algorithm into a wearable patch. Challenges addressed include maintaining glucose measurement accuracy during insulin administration.

Despite some interference at higher insulin doses, early study results indicate promising development towards simplifying automated insulin delivery. However, the device remains investigational, pending further validation and approvals.
