SICPA Awarded UK Vaping Duty Stamps Contract
Swiss firm SICPA has secured a notable European contract in partnership with Spectra Systems' subsidiary, Cartor Security Printers. This initiative aims to supply His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) with a secure track and trace system for vape products in the UK.
Combining SICPA's traceability expertise and Cartor's security printing, the program will deploy strong solutions to combat illicit vape trading. The contract lasts five years, with a possible one-year extension, starting with phased stamps in 2026. Cartor handles printing, while SICPA provides additional security and manages essential processes within the supply chain.
The cooperation aims to aid HMRC in enhancing excise duty collection, ensuring market compliance, and protecting consumers. SICPA's tools will also help identify fraud patterns and support anti-fraud measures.
