Significant recovery in the commercial vehicle market in Switzerland

The Swiss market for new commercial vehicles saw significant growth in the first half of 2026. Despite economic uncertainties, many companies renewed their fleets, particularly in the heavy goods vehicle and passenger transport sectors, with a notable increase in low-emission vehicles. Total registrations rose by 5.4% compared to 2025, with 19,597 vehicles registered.

Heavy goods vehicle registrations increased by 9.2%, while passenger vehicle registrations rose by 4.2%. Light commercial vehicles also saw a 5.1% increase. However, small and medium-sized enterprises remain cautious given the uncertain economic climate. The share of electric heavy goods vehicles now exceeds 26%, compared to 13.9% for light commercial vehicles.
