BlackRock falls below the 5% threshold of voting rights at Société Générale

Stock price chart of SOCIETE GENERALE (EPA:GLE) showing fluctuations.

On December 20, 2024, Société Générale announced that BlackRock, Inc. has crossed the threshold of 5% of voting rights within the French bank. Held on behalf of its clients and funds, BlackRock now owns 43,891,425 shares, which represents 5.48% of the capital but only 4.95% of the voting rights.

This decline is the result of the sale of Société Générale shares, both on and off the market, and a reduction in shares held as collateral. Despite this reduction, BlackRock maintains a significant position, which underlines the importance of market dynamics and asset management strategies.

The shares include various forms such as ADRs and loan-to-debt agreements, illustrating the complexity of institutional transactions. This change in participation is crucial to tracking the evolution of the influence of large asset managers.
