Soitec and CEA Enhance Automotive Cybersecurity with FD-SOI Technology
Soitec and CEA are taking significant steps in automotive cybersecurity through their partnership focusing on Fully Depleted Silicon-on-Insulator (FD-SOI) technology. As vehicles become more complex and connected, this technology aims to fortify vehicle hardware against cybersecurity threats such as fault injection attacks. These attacks pose a growing risk, as outlined by the ISO/SAE 21434 standards.
The partnership's research highlights FD-SOI's advantages over traditional silicon substrates. In tests at CEA-Leti, 22FDX FD-SOI required considerably more effort to induce faults compared to bulk silicon. This makes hacking far more costly and complex, supporting adherence to emerging security standards.
Future innovations including buried optical barriers and integrated sensors are set to strengthen this proactive security measure, ensuring a safer automotive industry landscape.
