SOWITEC Group GmbH Sells Wind Farm to Stadtwerke Stuttgart
On June 9, 2026, SOWITEC group GmbH announced the sale of its Creußen III wind farm in the Bayreuth district to Stadtwerke Stuttgart. This transaction marks a strategic effort by both companies to enhance renewable energy capacity in southern Germany. The wind farm is equipped with two state-of-the-art Vestas V172 wind turbines, each boasting a 7.2 MW capacity, summing up to a total of 14.4 MW.
The Creußen III project will annually generate approximately 34 gigawatt-hours of eco-friendly electricity, sufficient for around 11,600 households. It involves replacing three older turbines with more efficient models featuring a 172-meter rotor diameter. Approved environmentally in June 2025, the project's contract was secured via the EEG tender in August 2025.
SOWITEC continues to be involved in the project development and construction, targeting a December 2027 commissioning. CEO Frank Hummel emphasized the importance of the project in meeting Germany’s energy and climate objectives.
