Steyr Motors Collaborates with Avilus for Unmanned Aircraft Power Supply

Steyr Motors AG and Avilus are partnering to enhance the power supply for the Grille unmanned aircraft system. Steyr's M12 Power Unit enables efficient parallel charging of battery packs during flights, meeting the demanding needs of military operations. This innovative power generator offers high power density and modular scalability, adaptable to various military deployment scenarios.

Avilus's Grille 9X, an electric aircraft, focuses on evacuation and logistics under tough conditions. It boasts a 175 kg payload, a 51 km range, and an 86 km/h cruising speed. The system is operational in under 15 minutes and features a swift one-minute battery swap ability. The M12PU enhances operational efficiency, allowing usage with minimal downtime.

This field-proven system, demonstrated to Germany’s Defense Minister, marks a step forward in military power systems. Both firms spotlight the M12PU's scalability in counter-drone and drone operations, further advancing unmanned aircraft capabilities.
