STMicroelectronics launches the ST54M chip with post-quantum cryptography

STMicroelectronics has announced the ST54M, the first secure chip integrating post-quantum cryptography (PQC) for mobile devices. This innovative component offers a hardware PQC accelerator and combines NFC, a secure element, and eSIM, meeting future security requirements while optimizing the user experience.

With the ST54M, manufacturers can integrate multiple functions without compromising security, performance, or ease of use. Scheduled for certification in July 2026, the chip targets secure financial transactions, digital identity, and secure access, positioning itself as a future-proof solution for evolving mobile needs.

The product will be compatible with various sectors such as banks, governments, and mobile network operators, preparing the transition to hybrid cryptography towards full post-quantum.
