Sungrow and Sunotec Launch Major Battery Storage Project in Bulgaria
On June 12, 2026, Sungrow and Sunotec announced the commissioning of a 150 MW / 600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Nova Zagora, Bulgaria. This substantial project, developed by Enery, employs Sungrow’s liquid-cooled technology, PowerTitan 2.0, under the funding of Bulgaria's RESTORE program. The project aims to bolster grid flexibility and aid in the integration of renewable energy in Southeast Europe.
The Nova Zagora facility is significant, as it is among Bulgaria's largest battery storage installations, marking a significant advancement in the region's energy transition. Sungrow and Sunotec have a shared ambition to extend up to 1 GWh of capacity in this area, aiming to bring 3 GWh online by the end of 2026. The project showcases a crucial step towards enhancing grid stability and integrating renewable energy across diverse European markets.
