Syzygy Plasmonics and Trafigura Sign Key SAF Agreement
Syzygy Plasmonics has announced a crucial six-year Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) offtake agreement with Trafigura. This deal will see Trafigura procure SAF from Syzygy's first plant, NovaSAF-1, in Uruguay, starting 2028. Trafigura, a commodity industry leader, also has an option to buy additional volumes from Syzygy's future projects.
The agreement comes as demand for SAF grows amid feedstock constraints. Syzygy's innovative approach combines biogas and renewable electricity, promising cost-competitive production compared to traditional methods. NovaSAF-1 aims to cut lifecycle emissions by 90% compared to fossil fuels.
This milestone enables Syzygy to expand globally, leveraging its successful model for efficient SAF production, supporting industry regulations, and promoting a low-carbon economy.
