Tencent Funds Climate Innovators via CarbonX 2.0 Initiative

Tencent has revealed the 16 winners of its CarbonX 2.0 initiative, a global program fostering climate innovation, who will share nearly $30 million in funding. Announced at the London Science Museum, these winners are supported with technical resources and opportunities to scale their solutions. The program emphasizes four key areas: Carbon Dioxide Removal, CCUS for Steel, Carbon Utilization, and Long-Duration Energy Storage, with projects piloted globally.

Tencent's emissions reduction progress highlights its goal to reach carbon neutrality by 2030. Key achievements include significant reductions in Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and enhanced energy efficiency in data centers. Renewable energy use in Tencent's Internet Data Centers jumped to 83% in 2025.

These efforts are part of Tencent's broader commitment to climate action, aided by its technologies and collaborative efforts to drive sustainable practices globally.
