Thailand Advances Cement Decarbonization with German Partnership
The Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) is deepening its alliance with Germany's GIZ to promote low-carbon technologies in Thailand's cement industry. This move aims to transform policy commitments into tangible actions, with a focus on importing proven technologies for reducing emissions, targeting Net Zero by 2050.
TCMA Vice Chairman Nopadol Ramyarupa emphasized the shift from planning to implementation, with member companies focusing on expanding low-carbon cement and renewable energies. The Saraburi Sandbox project serves as a pilot for these initiatives.
The collaboration includes technology transfer and capacity building, with Germany providing expertise in emission reductions. This partnership aims to balance competitiveness with sustainability, supported by Thailand's government through incentives and new regulations.
