Alliance to End Plastic Waste Issues 2025 Progress Report

The Alliance to End Plastic Waste unveiled its 2025 Progress Report, marking the initial strides under Strategy 2030. Since its founding, the Alliance has reduced 378,147 tonnes of unmanaged plastic waste and secured funding commitments totaling US$641 million. The 2025 figures alone showed a reduction of 138,162 tonnes of unmanaged waste.

In 2025, the Alliance focused on scaling larger Country and Thematic Programs. Efforts in Indonesia included a waste management pilot in East Java, while in India, a new waste processing facility commenced operations in Mathura-Vrindavan. These initiatives aim to improve recycling maturity and address flexible plastics challenges in markets such as Europe and North America.

Mobilizing capital for circular economies remains a significant challenge. The Alliance broadened its influence by promoting investments in innovative solutions like Spain's Fych Technologies and Switzerland's Bloom Biorenewables.
