Beijing's Beixiao River Transformed into a Blossoming Wonder

In Beijing's Chaoyang District, spring unveils a novel attraction: the "Sakura River." Stretching over 4.2 kilometers, Beixiao River is adorned with nearly 6,000 cherry blossom trees, showcasing 68 varieties. From late March to late April, the river beams with colors ranging from soft pink to pale yellow-green, presenting a poetic landscape for both residents and visitors.

The transformation of the Beixiao River commenced in 2024, evolving from an urban flood channel into an ecological haven. Enhanced by 8.4 kilometers of greenways and 17 new access points, the area now connects 14 residential communities, benefiting approximately 80,000 residents. This innovation integrates leisure and commerce, making it a vibrant part of city life.

Chaoyang's "Sakura River" joins the ranks of global waterfronts, promoting accessible nature within urban confines. It reflects Beijing's commitment to revitalizing its natural landscapes for public enjoyment.
