THX Pharma and BBDF strengthen the protection of Batten-1 in Europe

THX Pharma and the Beyond Batten Disease Foundation announce the granting of a European patent protecting Batten-1 for juvenile Batten disease. This patent, shared with Baylor College of Medicine and Cardiff University, provides protection in Europe until July 2041.

The patent covers the use of miglustat, the active ingredient in Batten-1, which has demonstrated benefits in reducing symptoms associated with Batten's disease. Batten-1's exclusivity rests on three pillars: a therapeutic use patent, a proprietary formulation patent, and orphan drug designations, ensuring enhanced commercial protection.

This protection framework supports the global licensing partnership with Biocodex and the ongoing steps for authorization of a phase 3 clinical trial.
