THX Pharma Secures European Patent for Batten-1
THX Pharma and the Beyond Batten Disease Foundation (BBDF) have announced a new European patent granted for Batten-1. This patent protects the use of miglustat, an active ingredient, for treating juvenile Batten disease (CLN3). The patent is jointly owned by BBDF, Baylor College of Medicine, and Cardiff University and is exclusively licensed worldwide to THX Pharma.
The patent provides protection in Europe until July 2041, adding to THX Pharma's proprietary formulation patent and orphan drug designations in both Europe and the U.S. This strategic move ensures long-term exclusivity for Batten-1, secured through therapeutic-use patents, proprietary formulation, and orphan drug designations.
With these protections in place, THX Pharma is pursuing a global licensing agreement with Biocodex. The company has also submitted regulatory applications for Batten-1-02 Phase 3 clinical trials. This milestone strengthens Batten-1's intellectual property and enhances its market potential.
