Tinnitus Quest Advances Research with New Initiatives
Tinnitus Quest, a patient-driven nonprofit, has announced a new research funding round, intensifying efforts to find innovative tinnitus treatments. The funding builds on previous momentum, including a $230,000 study at Oxford University examining transcranial ultrasound stimulation (TUS) as a non-invasive alternative for tinnitus reduction.
Led by Professor Robin Cleveland, the Oxford study focuses on modulating neural circuits related to tinnitus through TUS. The initiative aims to avoid the need for invasive neurosurgery, offering a safer solution.
In addition to seeking groundbreaking ideas and repurposing existing treatments, Tinnitus Quest is offering a hyperacusis grant in collaboration with Hyperacusis Research Ltd. The organization plans its second Tinnitus Hackathon in Dallas in October, fostering collaboration among researchers, advocates, and industry experts.
Co-founder Hazel Goedhart emphasizes uncovering innovative approaches to address tinnitus, a condition affecting millions globally. Supporters like Barbra Streisand contribute to advancing this cause, highlighting the importance of driven research and heightened awareness.
