U-blox Advances GNSS with LEO Integration

u-blox is exploring the integration of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) signals with existing Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies. This initiative follows the launch of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Celeste LEO-PNT satellites, marking a significant milestone in positioning capabilities. LEO signals are positioned as a complementary layer to traditional GNSS, offering increased signal strength, improved geometry, and enhanced robustness.

This development is part of u-blox’s involvement in ESA's Navigation Innovation and Support Program (NAVISP). The project focuses on assessing the role of LEO signals in multi-layer positioning and aims to integrate them into u-blox’s GNSS receivers. This exploration includes observing LEO signal characteristics and evaluating their impact on positioning accuracy.

u-blox is collaborating with ESA and partners to innovate in positioning solutions, aiming to contribute substantially to the new LEO satellite ecosystem.
