U-blox Unveils MAYA-W5 and NORA-W5 Wi-Fi 6 Modules for IoT Applications

On June 16, 2026, u-blox, based in Thalwil, Switzerland, launched the MAYA-W5 and NORA-W5 series to introduce robust Wi-Fi 6 connectivity for cost-effective IoT applications. These modules address smart home, industrial automation, healthcare, and asset tracking needs, offering designs for varied applications. The MAYA-W5 acts as a host-based module, while the NORA-W5 functions as a stand-alone module, both incorporating Texas Instruments chipsets and European manufacturing to mitigate supply chain risks.

The two new offerings provide secure, reliable wireless connectivity featuring a compact design despite integrating Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth® Low Energy. They promise enhanced product development and integration, targeting IoT developers who balance cost, performance, and deployment risk. The MAYA-W5 uses the CC3351 chipset for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, whereas the NORA-W5 includes an Arm® Cortex®-M33 MCU and supports u-connectXpress software. Product samples are set to be available next month.
