Compensation Available for OneCoin Fraud Victims
The United States Department of Justice has initiated a petition for remission process to provide compensation for victims of the OneCoin cryptocurrency fraud. This scheme, orchestrated between 2014 and 2019 by Ruja Ignatova and Karl Sebastian Greenwood, defrauded investors globally. Many victims experienced significant financial losses due to this fraudulent platform.
The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York has conducted several prosecutions related to OneCoin, leading to the criminal forfeiture of fraud proceeds. These funds are set to compensate affected investors through the remission process. Eligible victims include those who invested in OneCoin and suffered net losses after accounting for any withdrawals or recoveries.
Victims can file petitions for remission by June 30, 2026, either by mail or online, to verify and support claims of financial loss. There is no fee to participate, and legal representation is not required. Failure to submit a petition will exclude victims from the compensation process.
