US District Court Decision in TriZetto Re-trial

On March 27, 2026, the US District Court for the Southern District of New York delivered its pre-judgment decision in the legal dispute involving Syntel, Cognizant, and its subsidiary TriZetto. The court has ordered Syntel to pay a total of $236.9 million to Cognizant/TriZetto. This sum includes previously confirmed compensatory damages of $69,977,813, with punitive damages reduced to $139,955,626, conditional on TriZetto's approval. Additional attorney fees were also awarded.

Furthermore, pre-judgment interest will accrue from January 9, 2018, at a rate of 9%. TriZetto must decide by April 10, 2026, on whether to accept the reduced punitive damages. Atos Group, which acquired Syntel in 2018, states that this verdict does not significantly affect its financial standing and is considering a detailed review and potential appeal.
