Inaugural production at Sarimay Solar in Uzbekistan by Voltalia
Voltalia, a major player in renewable energy, has launched production at its 126-megawatt solar power plant in Sarimay, Uzbekistan. This project, initiated in May 2024, has reached a crucial milestone towards its full commissioning. Awarded in December 2022, the 180-hectare site comprises 180,000 bifacial solar panels and is expected to generate 252 gigawatt-hours annually, enough to power a home for 60,000 people.
Funded by the EBRD, the project includes planting shrubs to restore the ecosystem and supports local initiatives. In parallel, Voltalia is developing Artemisya, another major energy project. Sarimay marks a significant step forward in Uzbekistan's energy transition, with an annual reduction of 140,000 tons of CO₂.
