Vossloh to Modernize Belgian High-Speed Rail with Smart Turnouts
Vossloh, a German rail technology company, has received contracts from Infrabel to supply and maintain turnouts for Belgium's HSL 1 high-speed line. This line connects Brussels with the French border. The contracts are valued at approximately 17 million euros.
These agreements are part of a broader initiative to modernize the line, initially opened in 1997. Key components will be replaced, with Vossloh set to deliver high-speed turnouts over an eight-year contract. A separate contract ensures their maintenance for 20 years.
The turnouts are designed with sensors that monitor their condition, aiding predictive maintenance. Infrabel and Vossloh leaders both emphasize the significance of this partnership for enhancing the network's safety and sustainability.
